Advertising and Conduct Rules

How you may and may not promote the programme.

Version 1.0. These documents cover the affiliate programme only. Your use of DocketPDF™ itself is governed by the site terms and the site privacy policy, which continue to apply.

The short version. Recommend the service to people who might actually want it, say that you may be paid, and do not use our name to get in front of somebody who was already looking for us. Everything below is that idea, spelled out.

These rules form part of the affiliate agreement. Breaking them can void commission and close your affiliate account.

1. Disclose the relationship

1.1 Wherever you recommend the service, say plainly that you may be paid if the reader subscribes. Put it where they will see it before they click, not at the bottom of a page or behind a link.

1.2 Plain wording is fine: “I earn a commission if you subscribe through this link.” It does not have to be legal language and it should not be in small print.

1.3 In the United States this is required by the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guides. It is not a courtesy and it is not ours to waive.

1.4 On video, say it out loud as well as writing it in the description. On a short-form platform, put it in the visible caption.

2. Do not claim to be us

2.1 You may not describe yourself as us, as our employee, as our agent, as official, as authorised, as a partner or as a reseller.

2.2 You may not answer support questions as though you were us, or offer to fix an account for somebody, or take a payment for the service yourself.

2.3 You may not register or use a domain, subdomain, social handle, app listing, channel name, business name or email address that contains our name or anything confusingly close to it.

2.4 You may not build a page that copies the look of ours closely enough that a visitor could think they are on our site.

3. Paid search and marketplace advertising

3.1 You may not bid on our name, our product names, our domain, or misspellings and variations of any of them, in any paid search or paid social system.

3.2 You may not use our name in the display URL, the headline or the visible path of a paid advertisement.

3.3 You may not run advertising that lands on our site directly. Referral traffic goes through your own content.

3.4 The reason for all of this is simple: somebody typing our name into a search engine has already decided to find us. Paying commission on that click buys us nothing and costs us twice.

3.5 Paid advertising for content of your own that happens to recommend us is fine, as long as it does not use our name as described above.

4. Do not spam

4.1 No unsolicited email. No purchased lists, no scraped addresses, no “we found your address online.” If you email your list, it must be a list that asked to hear from you, and every message must carry a working unsubscribe.

4.2 No unsolicited SMS, no WhatsApp broadcasts, no automated direct messages, no cold LinkedIn sequences that lead with a referral link.

4.3 No comment spam, no forum spam, no drive-by posts in threads you are otherwise not part of, no editing your link into somebody else’s content, and no posting the link into an unrelated community.

4.4 No paid-to-click, incentivised traffic, autosurf, traffic exchange, bot traffic or click farms.

4.5 The CAN-SPAM Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and their equivalents where you are, apply to you and not to us. So does the indemnity in the affiliate agreement.

5. Do not manufacture referrals

5.1 You may not sign up through your own link, under any name, from any address, on any device.

5.2 You may not sign up on somebody else’s behalf, pay somebody to sign up, or arrange for accounts to be created that were not going to be created anyway.

5.3 You may not use disposable email domains to create referred accounts.

5.4 You may not offer cash, a rebate, or a share of your commission to somebody for signing up. Offering genuine help — a template, a walkthrough, your own time — is fine.

5.5 Commission on a manufactured referral is void, whether or not it has been paid, and manufacturing them is grounds for closing the account outright.

6. Be accurate about the product

6.1 Do not invent features, prices, plans or guarantees. If you are unsure whether something is true, ask us.

6.2 Do not promise an outcome in a legal matter. Do not suggest that using the software makes a filing compliant, that a court will accept a document because of it, or that it substitutes for a lawyer. This is document software; it does not practise law and neither do you.

6.3 Do not present a discount, a trial or a bonus that we are not actually offering.

6.4 Do not use fabricated testimonials, invented case results, or figures you cannot support.

6.5 If you write a review, it should be your own honest opinion of something you have actually used.

7. Where you may not promote

7.1 Nowhere unlawful, and nowhere carrying material that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, or aimed at children.

7.2 Not alongside pirated software, cracks, keygens, or anything offering our software or anybody else’s for free.

7.3 Not through a browser extension, toolbar, adware, injected banner, pop-under, forced redirect, cookie dropper, or anything else that inserts your link into a page the visitor did not choose to see.

7.4 Not on a coupon or discount-code site that lists codes we have not published. Publishing a code we did publish is fine.

7.5 Not by iframing our site, cloaking your link, or hiding where a click is going.

8. Court and legal-aid settings

8.1 Many of the people who would use this software are in a difficult moment with a court. Do not exploit that. No pressure, no false urgency, no implication that a deadline is at risk if they do not buy today.

8.2 Do not promote inside a self-help centre, a clerk’s office, a courthouse or a legal-aid programme in a way that implies the court or the programme endorses the software. If an institution wants to recommend it, that is a conversation for them to have with us.

8.3 Do not collect case details, documents or personal information from anybody as part of promoting us. You have no reason to hold them and we do not want you to.

9. If you are unsure

9.1 Ask. Write to the support address on this site, describe what you want to do, and you will get a straight answer. An approval in writing from us covers you for the thing described in it.

9.2 We would rather answer a question than close an account.

10. What happens when a rule is broken

10.1 A first, honest mistake. We tell you, you fix it, and nothing else happens.

10.2 Repeated or unfixed. The account is paused. Commission continues to accrue; nothing is paid while it is paused.

10.3 Deliberate. Manufactured referrals, cloaking, spam at scale, or claiming to be us: the account is closed and the affected commission is void.

10.4 Where a breach exposes us to a claim or a penalty, the indemnity in the affiliate agreement applies.

10.5 A decision under this section is explained to you in writing, and you may reply to it.
